coupley weekend!

let me detail this weekend for you....

allison (the bestie) comes down and then bill (her NEW bf) decides to fly into dallas for the week so we go to pick him up. then we eat at the cheesecake factory. UM. YUM. i've of course been before but NEVER had the fried mac and cheese til now. DELICIOUS! also... if you go anytime soon you HAVE to try this:

changed my life. and if anyone can figure out how to make this at home... you MUST tell me.

it was a heavenly break to my diet.

so then we just hung out constantly with billiam and allison. love them. they are so fun together and i am secretly (and publicly) hoping they get married. sure they've been dating only two days.... but i mean.... they are so great. and they could be our couple besties that we on vacay with!!! :)

15 bean soup

...is what i made for dinner. meanwhile my husband gets to have chicken and dumplins at his mom's house. so while he is away and i am not able to spend every waking second staring at his handsome face (because we're newlyweds so clearly that takes up a good chunk of our time... clearly.) i decided, now is a great time to give a real update and not just paragraphs upon paragraphs of spiritual word/thought vomit. uh oh... i better get to the pictures, because a paragraph is forming as i type.

camp works girls! i don't know where hannah is.... these girls are supa fun though. and real sweet.

this is my sister. she is pretty. and christian royalty (you know... an intern at a church, leads a small group, has a leadership position at a christian camp, etc...) and i love her.

my mom came in town to visit me and the hubz and tammie and we ate at sonoma grill which is my favorite place in tyler. then we saw prince of persia. i liked it. have you seen it? it was less funny than i expected, but still good.

here we have the southern diva/gentleman tyler rogers. emily, tyler, and hannah came over and we all made dinner! menu: beef and veggie kabobs, strawberry spinach salad, twice baed potatoes, and ice cream cookie sandwiches. i am kind of bragging because that sounds like a very fun, grown up meal! it was yuuuuuum.

hair flowers!!! have to give credit to katy stone because i think we probably saw them the same time on another blog, but she made them first! then i did! there are many more to come. also  want to try these next.

FRED!!!!! this is a new addition to our home... we stole him from my parents. yes i know he looks bowlegged... he kind of is, but he is precious!!! he is a people person/dog, but not in the annoying "get-down-and-away-from-me" way. love him. he snores though. loud.

and my baby! (never thought i would say that about a dog...please don't judge me) jacob!!! which reminds me... twilight is coming out soon. i'm trying to decide if i care.

and lastly, i got to see THE kat stone for the first time since i'v been married! and maybe the last time before she leaves for the massive continent known as africa. check her out. i'll post her link again: kkstone.blogspot.com
BOOM.

okay yay! a real, live decently entertaining blog post! go me! and you (if there are any "you"s out there) for reading this! to keep you further invested and looking forward to stopping by again here are my
ideas for future blogs:
1. things that i have never used from our registry
2. explaining/defending why i suck at photo 365
3. finding a really funny youtube video and being the first to post about it
4. copy-cat-crafting and blogging about it. typical.
5. maybe being consistent and actually writing some?

okay bye!!

this picture is probably one of my favorites i have ever taken! good light, not posed, real laughter. i love it. i want more like it. to see my favorite pictures from my last engagement sessions, click this link:

who wants a free session?

also... i just wanted to go ahead and say that trevor fell asleep on the toilet tonight. really. he's been acting all weird since he got on this cough medicine... i don't know what's up... but he sleeps alot.

anywhoo... here are my goals for the month of may:
1. begin reading the chronicles of narnia (the whole series)
2. make a chart. trevor and i have committed to never eat at a resteraunt in tyler that we've already been to. so i want to make a chart with all the spots we have never been to and have columns for each place detailing the service, tastiness of food, uniqueness and such. i'll let you know the yummy places we find!
3. journal. i have missed my time in prayer. i've been doing beth moore's esther study (1 week left, whoop!) and it is GREAT but i miss reading random things and thinking about them and praying about them and just hanging out with the lord. i could've done both, but what can i say... maybe i'm not that holy. :) also, just want to say that this will be the first time i COMPLETE a full bible study! not gonna miss one day! i should reward myself with something.
4. do something sweet for trevor once a week. doesn't need to be big, expensive, or crazy. just thoughtful.

i'll let y'all know how it goes.

oh, and one more thing:
ALLISON IS COMING HOME SOON!!!! MY SPANISH BEST FRIEND IS RETURNING IN 13ish DAYS!!!

i miss her. i've called her twice just to hear her voice(call me pathetic... thats fine!). i just miss my best friend. i miss being able to talk forever. drive around town and pick out places we want to eat at. disagree about theology and still value each other's opinion. jam out to her new rap song she heard before anyone else in college station knew about it. her eating yogurt and cereal for every meal. :) her going back and forth between 5 different boys. :) her thoughtfulness. her empathy.

allison... i want to cry, i miss you so much. this first semester of being married has been so great. but so weird that you weren't here to tell every detail too. love you friend!

what? the weekend is over already?

seriously?

i'm convinced adding one more day to the weekend would give me enough rest to return to work monday morning and i would never ever complain about it being too short again!!!

soooooo. this weekend was super exciting and full of stuff! Series of events:

1. friday night i get off work, say goodbye to trev-trev (he went to arkansas and then straight to the cave springs camp in OK... he'll be gone til wednesday...sad face) and hit the road to the brothel (our fond nickname for our house, NOT for the implied slutiness, but because last semester, there were 5 girls living in the 4 bedroom house which is legally classified as a brothel in BCS). i walked into the house and saw lots of boys. not what i was expecting...being that girls lived here....but oh well. next, lauren, carly, and april and I made our reunion. all that was missing was assison! (and yes, i mean allison) :)

2. that night we had a reunion with the G manor, aka... bill howard.... and then i got tired and went to bed...

3. SATURDAY: took pictures of april for my benefit and also to use for the world race support letters she'll be sending out. what is the world race? http://theworldrace.org/ <--there it is!! that was super fun. and then we got prepared for the BIG EVENT: Carly McKnight and James Smith's ENGAGEMENT! he proposed at the george bush library pond and then took carly back to the brothel for a successful surprise party! it was great seeing them excited with family and friends. 4. round 2 of bill's house hangout later that night. i only have one phrase to say about that: lauren whisenant in the trunk. 5. Sunday Funday: carlly and james engagement pictures: be on the lookout... they'll be making their debut here and in the facebook world. then i saw my good friend for lunch. she challenged me and encouraged me with her faith. EB (as i call her and she doesn't like any more.. get over it) was a 2-3 month old christian when i met her at sky ranch as my co-counselor. hopefully she won't mind if i share that in the span of a year and a half she went from trying really hard to not cuss in front of the kids to accidentally saying crap at lunch yesterday and quickly picking another, less offensive word to express herself. for real.

um... i've been a christian 18 years, and you will still catch me unashamedly tossing a few curse words around. not that one's christianity is measured by how often you cuss. in fact, sometimes i don't think God even cares. but the point is... this girl has CHANGED. she is an obvious case of GROWTH, God's FAITHFULNESS, and PERSEVERANCE. the things she has learned and now puts into practice very well might out number everything i've learned in 18 years. my purpose in this is not to inflate her ego while decimating my own, but to really find hope in her story. when passion consumes you... you look different, you act different... when you choose over and over again the things of the Lord, life changes pretty quickly for you and soon just living life is your way of boldly sharing the gospel.

i love it. this woman is such an inspiration. i think it is easy to see wonderful things in people and immediately covet them. become bitter or jealous and not see them as inspiring. i also think that mindest is of satan. so i am casting satan out as i honor the obvious godliness of this woman. and share that i too want an intimacy with the Lord that radiates so brilliantly.

maybe i've gotten over the wonder of the cross. but i've been reminded of the lord's loving-kindness. as i study the book of esther and search out evidence of the lord's providence in plans and people, i'm reminded of this incredible God who chose me and just asks that i choose him too.

thats all for now. PICTURES next time! :)
