day of looooove

happy valentine's day!

and i know, i know, i haven't posted in over a month. i hope i am back for a while.... long story short, i am working on my photography blog and every time i sit down at my computer, i want to blog here, but feel guilty that i would spend my time on e free blog instead of the one i'm paying for that no one has seen yet. so i either edit pictures and post on the other one... or don't blog at all. i'm working on it!!

okay, BACK to v-day.

we celebrated last night with a handful of friends! it all started with the girls in my bible study group (studying this) chit chatting about valentine's day. let me know if i'm off base here, but when you're married.... valentine's day is kind of an annoying holiday. you have to spend money on a nice date and on each other that you normally wouldn't... and while kind of fun... it's a day that doesn't have anything to do with your relationship or you! just a day everyone else is celebrating love, so shouldn't we do it too... or else does it look like we don't love each other?

ao anyway... we all didn't want to brave the crowds at the typical restaurants and spend a lot of money and do something so cliche. SO. we decided to make our own valentine's celebration for our hubzys! we secured a room at the camp i work at and decorated, made dinner, danced, and toasted our husbands!!

Decoration consisted of lots of lights and candles, each of our tables had pictures of the couples. We each brought our own plates and silverware for our tables so no one had to wash all of the dishes afterwards. pictures, please:

Menu:
-Pesto Mozzarella Rolls
-Spinach Salad (apples, craisins, candied pecans, vinaigrette)

-Sweet Potatoes
-Bacon Green Bean Bundles
-Steak

-Red Velvet Cookies (heart shaped) with Ice Cream and Sprinkles

after dinner we had a few minutes of dancing... i wish we would have danced longer, but not everyone's hubz is into that. makes sense!

Want to meet these lovely ladies and their hubzys?

this is Chris and Jenn. he was my hubz's old boss and she is my partner in sewing-and-lusting-over-home-decor in crime.

this is Katie and Josh. they are fun and loooooove disney movies. they went to disney world for their honeymoon! :) josh was my hubz's old roommate!

this is BK and Kyle. kyle is trevor's co-worker and BK has a really awesome blog you should check out.  fun story: hubz and i spied on them as they shared their first kiss!

i promise i looked better in person... had to wear the cardigan due to massive cleavage on this dress. will now be selling on eBay....

after dancing we each gave a toast to our husbands. mine went something like this:
  • thank you for choosing me!
  • i like that you cuss and make dirty jokes
  • i love you!
thoughtful, i know.

here is a group pic of all of us!

next year: the boys are planning it.

right, guys?
